Kieffer Sanitation Golf Event Helps Abused Children
Kieffer Sanitation is a tremendous supporter of Children’s Home Society of SD (CHS). We are extremely grateful for the Kieffer team and all they do to improve the lives of children and families in the Black Hills.
All CHS programs are dependent on donations to provide services. Children’s Home Child Advocacy Center (CAC) provides expert forensic interviews of children who are alleged victims of sexual and/or physical abuse or who have witnessed extreme violence. CAC is a cooperative venture between Children’s Home Society, law enforcement agencies, the medical community, United States and State Attorneys and court services.
The primary goal of the CAC is to reduce a child’s trauma by eliminating repeated interviews and medical examinations by multiple investigative parties. The number of children and families served at this location continues to rise. (Forensic interviews of children total 361 for the past fiscal year, and the cost for CAC to provide the specialized forensic interview exceeds $1,100 per child.)
When Kieffer Sanitation heard about this important work in our community, they took action to help by hosting an annual golf tournament to raise funds for CAC. The 7th Annual Kieffer Sanitation Trash Can Open took place at the Golf Club at Red Rock on August 27, 2020 and is on track to raise more than $38,477. Net Proceeds from this event will also be matched by a challenge donor, Rotary Club of Rapid City Rushmore.
The 2020 Trash Can Open included Poker Holes, a Minute-To-Win-It Putting Contest, an extraordinary raffle, and a prime rib dinner. Over the past seven years Kieffer Sanitation has raised nearly $200,000 to benefit Children’s Home Child Advocacy Center.
Kieffer Sanitation also continues the tradition of helping Santa provide a bike and helmet for each child living at the residential treatment campus, Black Hills Children’s Home, every Christmas.
Children’s Home Society of SD is truly blessed by our friends at Kieffer Sanitation and their dedication to improving the lives of children and families in our community.
